Memory Gel breast implants, manufactured only by the Mentor Corporation, are one type of the silicone gel implants used today by qualified plastic surgeons in breast enlargement surgeries. They are said to have a more cohesive gel and the shell is suppose to be more durable than any of the other silicone breast implants.

The Memory Gel implants have been used for over 20 years and have been placed in over a thousand women who opted to have a breast enlargement surgery. The FDA just recently allowed for this type of implant to be used in America.

Patients that have the memory gel implant say that they feel more like natural breast tissue. This is largely due to the consistency of the silicone cohesive gel that feels like a jello or gummy bear substance. This gel is suppose to hold together better and gives the patient a better shape to their breasts.

The Memory Gel type breast implant is suppose to have lower rupture rates than other silicone breast implants on the market today. They are also one of the silicone gel implants that plastic surgeons choose for their breast implant patients because they are said to be easier to place and easier to shape as well. The recovery time from having the memory gel implant is also said to be much lower than other types of breast implants after breast surgery because of the minimal incision line that is required to place them. The procedure used for the placement of the Memory Gel implants are often more affordable than other breast augmentation procedures.

As with any type of breast implant the memory gel silicone ones also have their complications. Just like other breast implants these also run the risk of rupture and then a reoperation or adjustments may be necessary to repair them.
